When young Jessica gets pregnant, she is overwhelmed by the situation and makes some very wrong choices leading to some unwarranted losses for her loved ones. When Jessica learns of her pregnancy, she discusses the matter with her best friend Lisa. Having already made up her, she does not listen to sense from her boyfriend or her close friend. Jessica decides to go ahead with abortion as she is not ready for a baby yet. To keep the whole affair a secret from her parents and others, she decides to go to an unlicensed practitioner or a quack over a regular legitimate hospital. Does the procedure go down as planned or will Jessica have to pay the price for choosing discretion over safety while making her decision?

‘To Tell or Not to Tell’ is a short script from Writer Monica Sutton. Monica tells of the emotional turmoil of a young girl when she learns that she is pregnant for the first time. The father of the child is supportive of her and wants to legitimize their relation and start a family. The story explores the various reasons why people choose to go to unregistered practitioners. She introduces the person who runs the place Jessica goes to as a retired nurse with decades of experience, extremely professional in her dealings. Monica paints a realistic picture of the operations of such businesses and gives them a humane face where they exist to provide a service, essential for society.

‘To Tell or Not to Tell’ is also an eye-opener for how one wrong choice can impact the lives of our loved ones. The film is a heartfelt message from a bereaved parent which says, no matter the bond between friends or what your friend has warned you against, when it comes to matters that threaten life, it is wiser to inform the parents and elders.

Thank you for the review. It was on point and said exactly what I was trying to portray in my writing. Thank you so much for the opportunity of my work being included in the festival!
