Waiting rooms are strange places. They are open public spaces where the occupants are often deep in thought and in their own private space. It is where one gets time off from the present to wait a few minutes before they are called for. Director Didier MULLERAS brings out this special nature of waiting rooms in his dance presentation titled ‘Waiting Room’. Putting together 15 dancers in a confined space, Didier recreates the madness that passes in the minds of his characters inside the room with his choreography. It is a dance form that looks inside while talking to the outside.
As the dancers explore the space they are in with relation to the inner space of their minds, we are presented with a dance performance that is unique in both its style and form. With the norms of distancing adding to this already convoluted mix, waiting rooms have only become more complicated and fascinating. Didier MULLERAS’ ‘Waiting Room’ is a noble undertaking to entangle this twisted knot.
