Everyone deserves a second chance. Often it is the person himself who stands in his own way of getting a second chance in life. Our protagonist’s life was a rough one, riddled with misfortunes, that took his loved ones away, one after the other. A dejected soul, he finds a new purpose in his life, to avenge the deaths. Targeting his hatred at society, he goes about killing people. At first, he derives solace from his deeds, knowing that others cannot be happy because he is not. But soon, his deeds stop making him happy any longer. It confuses him whether his killings are because of his love for guns or for his thirst for revenge. One day, he meets up with his best friend and accomplice over drinks at a bar. The two have a conversation where they see the pointlessness of their action. Will they be able to see reason over emotions?
‘Guns A Blazing’ is a short script by Writer Tiffany Colling. Colling gets into the mind of a sociopath who is out to settle his personal scores with society by killing random people. Through the course of the story, she explores the turbulence in the emotional makeup of a person who blames society for his personal losses. When this confused mind mixes with a love for guns, we get a lethal mixture that brings instant death. ‘Guns A Blazing’ also looks at the brighter side of the situation that it does not take much for such a person to see the brighter side and move away from his dark deeds into the light.
‘Guns A Blazing’ is a short script that brings out in the open, much debated topics like mental health and gun ownership. The positive ending of the story leaves us with hope about the situation that otherwise seems very grim.
