When teenager Alan discovers that he is a woman in a man’s body, he is faced with the homophobia and ensuing disgust, hate and violence of his father and the other boys in his small Northwestern logging town, Big Eddy. As his mother and sister try to stay with him and help him come to terms with this reality, he finds them at the receiving end of this hate and violence. Alan leaves town.
Many years later, when a series of gruesome homicides shake up Big Edy, the sheriff of the town, one of Alan’s tormentors, realizes that the only common factor among the victims is that they were part of his childhood gang of friends.
Vengence is a Lady, is an original screenplay by Michael F Williams. It is as much the story of a serial killer as it is a saga of revenge. The transformation of Alison from the bumbling revenge seeker without a plan during her first murder, to the seasoned killer, when she goes for the final kill, is brought out delightfully making it a pleasure to read. The screenplay succeeds in bringing to life the mental agony of Alison, her wounds from the past that does not go away, as she goes about setting the wrongs done to her right.
An engrossing thriller, Vengeance is a lady, is also a dialogue about coming out with one’s true sexual identity, homophobia and its long-lasting consequences on impressionable minds. It is a peep into the cabals of the macho men, unable to accept a change or anything new, sticking together through unholy alliances, to control the narrative misusing their position of power.
