‘Women on play’ is a script for an engaging series by Maria Rotgers set against the novel backdrop of a house of ‘players’. She peeks into the life and the minds of professional players to create a compelling drama of the high stakes at these gaming events. With the institutionalization of competitive gaming, the rivalry has become cut-throat bringing with it crime and deception. Maria takes her time setting up her characters, fleshing each one out and grounding them firmly in the plot, adding to the mystery at a steady pace. With new characters come more sub-plots and soon enough, we find ourselves entangled in an intricately woven web that only gets more and more tangled from now on.

‘Women on play’ is a thriller series with all the elements to keep the viewer at the edge of his seat. The story of three generations of the family of players, is also a study on how gaming has grown into the mainstream and become a career that is honorable, demanding and gratifying. Maria tells us that the basic human nature to ‘play and win’ remains unchanged, be it in the field, across the table or on the console.
