Bone Creek

Bone Creek is a remote little mining town in the wild west. The silver mines on the outskirts of the town keep the business institutions in town busy, providing livelihood and industry to the otherwise sleepy little town. Dempsy’s Hotel and Saloon is the centerpiece of commerce in town. It provides food, drink and comfort to the miners who walk down to town with their wages, looking for a good time and some pleasant company after long shifts in the mines. Sheriff Rett and his young Deputy Rake are the law enforcers of town who have taken it upon themselves to ensure peace and calm in the saloon and provide for the safety of the residents and the visitors. One regular sleepy day in Bone Creek, the Sheriff and his deputy are called into the clinic of Doc Zeigler, who is excited to show them something out of the ordinary. The puzzled Doctor shows them a disemboweled body that was dropped off earlier that day by a strange miner who disappeared immediately afterwards. Puzzled by what they have seen, the lawmen are at a loss to figure out the cause of the strange mutilations. Soon they realize that the Creek Town is under attack by an army of living corpses or the living dead. When the last of the surviving townsfolk get together, they realize that they have lost several of their loved ones to the living corpses, and now it is up to them to fight for their survival. They must save their town from these unholy creatures.

‘Bone Creek’ is a feature length screenplay by writer Armand Arekian. Arekian creates a small mining town of the 20th century, complete with its centrepiece, a saloon, and the horde that make their livelihood from the place. ‘Bone Creek’ is a zombie apocalypse drama that takes the town and townsfolk by surprise. For a genre that depends on sudden thrills to keep the audience on tenterhooks, Arekian chooses a different route, more scenic and relaxed. But this does not take away from the thrills that spring at every turn. The writer has been successful in pulling off an engaging and suspenseful story of the genre with little of the gore and the nail biting sequences that are the basic blocks of this genre.

‘Bone Creek’ is a story of love and trust. It is a story of how life-threatening events often bring out the best in us and teach us to look at the positive in others, forgive their trespasses and keep faith in humanity.
